I wrote this plan for a client who needed to drop from the lightweight to the featherweight class for a big upcoming tournament while looking to maintain strength and power production to the best of our ability. Out of all the programs I’ve written over the years, this is one I am the most proud of. There is a strong focus on building/ maintaining the aerobic base through this first cycle and onward toward the tournament itself. Lots of aerobic base work also makes the drop to the lower weight class more manageable. This individual also has experience with the Olympic Lifts, so there is plenty of attention and time spent on maintaining those numbers while continuing to smooth out technique. There is also an allowance for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specific days built into the plan. So, getting that specific work done is built into the framework.
